The Glasgow Guardian has a long history of investigative journalism and holding the university to account. Natasha Coyle discusses why she’s no longer stressing about the things she can’t control. The phrase “it is what it is” has been thrown around in many situations, usually to deflect personal disappointment at how a situation has unfolded. However, there is lack of evidence to this claim, so further studies need to confirm this hypothesis. The BREAD-ASR questionnaire constitutes a valid and reliable instrument for studying the practice of breadcrumbing. The results of the psychometric properties evaluated show an adequate content validity, construct validity amolatina and internal consistency for the questionnaire, making it a valid and reliable instrument that can be applied in future investigations related to the breadcrumbing phenomenon. First, permission was sought from the Department of Nursing, Physiotherapy and Medicine Research Committee at the University (EFM18/19).

In general, CM programs promote drug abstinence through a combination of positive reinforcement for drug-free urine samples. However, music therapy was identified to have potentially strong beneficial effects in aiding contemplation and preparing those diagnosed with substance use for treatment. Addiction treatment is complex and not always effective due to engagement and service availability concerns, so researchers prioritize efforts to improve treatment retention and decrease relapse rates.

Chronic exposure to amphetamine induces a unique transcription factor delta FosB, which plays an essential role in long-term adaptive changes in the brain. At any age across the life cycle EFs can be improved, including in the elderly and in infants. There has been much work with excellent results on improving EFs in the elderly by improving physical fitness (Erickson & Kramer 2009, Voss et al. 2011) … Inhibitory control involves being able to control one’s attention, behavior, thoughts, and/or emotions to override a strong internal predisposition or external lure, and instead do what’s more appropriate or needed. Without inhibitory control we would be at the mercy of impulses, old habits of thought or action , and/or stimuli in the environment that pull us this way or that. Thus, inhibitory control makes it possible for us to change and for us to choose how we react and how we behave rather than being unthinking creatures of habit.

Another way to ask this question is to consider the situations in which we feel difficulty meeting the needs we listed in question 4. May I sincerely seek to identify my behaviors, motivations, triggers, needs and aspirations. Sexuality must originate pleasure and positive experiences, avoiding any kind of psychological or moral punishment in contemporary or future society. However, these positive meanings seem to be once again suffocated with greater representativeness of the unfavorable aspects linked to “Sexuality on the internet”. The evocations ‘Immoral’, ‘Fake’, ‘Death’, ‘Gender Inequality’, ‘STI’, ‘Pedophilia’, ‘Prejudice’ reinforce a negative representational structure of the object of study. For this purpose, 300 adolescents were contacted, 182 accepted to participate in the research, but 58 adolescents discontinued, which consisted of 124 participants.

We also establish at least one or two “home groups”—meetings that we attend every week and that, when we feel ready, we support through service. The frameworks we use for sobriety are simply tools; any approach that helps us find freedom from compulsion is welcome and encouraged. With time, honesty, and self-acceptance, our lives open to a loving Higher Power that can guide us towards a practice of sobriety that meets our needs and brings peace to our hearts. Regardless of how we understand and practice sobriety, we find that what matters most is sharing honestly with other members and our Higher Power, and we lean on meetings and phone calls to help us discover and maintain our sobriety commitments. In our addiction, we used screens to distract ourselves, escape reality, and numb our emotions—our devices became substitutes for true connection.

We find that connecting with experienced members is an essential part of the process, giving us a broader perspective and helping us move towards a personal understanding of sobriety. We also find it helpful to regularly review our answers to these questions, acknowledging that our understanding of sobriety and our own recovery needs evolve over time. This worksheet is intended to help you arrive at a clear and effective plan for recovery from compulsive internet and technology use. We encourage you to answer the questions below in order and to be searching, honest, and open-minded.

When interpreting these results, several limitations of the study and avenues for future research should be considered. First, the small sizes of effects call for larger and more heterogeneous samples to reach more definitive and generalizable conclusion. Second, the cross-sectional design does not provide information on the direction of effects, to explore the which will be important to collect longitudinal data. Third, the children’s retrospective perceptions of parenting practices may be different from those actually implemented, therefore the use of observational measures or multi-informant reports that assess parenting practices when they display should be preferred in the future. Finally, given that the different families to which daughters and sons belong may be a confounder of the gender differences that emerged, data provided by male and female siblings from the same family should be collected to reach a better understanding of these differences. Moreover, the mothers’ authoritarian style was positively related to their daughters perpetrated cyber aggression and to their sons suffered cyber control only if fathers were, respectively, permissive and poorly authoritarian.

Other projects include The Wayback Machine, archive.org, Open Library, and Archive-It. The evidence presented here demonstrates that rapid environmental adaptation occurs following exposure to a number of stimuli. Epigenetic mechanisms represent the key components by which the environment can influence genetics, and they provide the missing link between genetic heritability and environmental influences on the behavioral and physiological phenotypes of the offspring. In simplest terms, this means that when either amphetamine or sex is perceived as more alluring or desirable through reward sensitization, this effect occurs with the other as well.

The number of factors was determined using Scree plot with Parallel Analysis which suggested that 4 factors would be a good choice. Internal consistency measures the degree of the interrelatedness among the items, that is, the extent to which the items in a subscale are measuring the same concept. This property is relevant for questionnaires measuring a single construct by using multiple items (Terwee et al., Reference Terwee, Bot, de Boer, van der Windt, Knol, Dekker, Bouter and de Vet 2007). Twenty-eight studies assessed the internal consistency of the instruments, of which five were considered “inadequate”.
